Um grupo de mulheres no município de São Benedito, na Serra da Ibiapaba, trocou o serviço do campo pela culinária. Com a produção mensal de 2 mil bolos artesanais, elas incrementam a renda familiar há cerca de quatro anos.
O grupo é formado por 24 agricultoras que manuseiam os ingredientes numa cozinha industrial do Distrito de Barreiro. Elas se dividem em três pequenos grupos e cada um trabalha uma vez por semana. O produto feito por elas é distribuído nas escolas públicas.
Cada uma das trabalhadoras fatura R$ 350 em média. Por semana são fabricados mais de 670 bolos de sabores variados. Dedes que o projeto foi implantado, cerca de três associações se inscreveram e estão em pleno funcionamento. Outras treze comunidades já sinalizaram e também devem aderir ao programa para incremento da agricultura familiar
